Pellegrini Stieda’s Disease
Pellegrini Stieda’s disease is a condition of unknown etiology characterized by formation of calcific deposit in proximal attachment of medial collateral ligament. The condition is often preceded by traumatic episode.
Clinical features
There is dull aching pain exaggerated by activity . There is tenderness at medial epicondyle, with diffuse indurated warm swelling in soft tissues. Knee
motion is terminally restricted. Later a nodule is formed . The nodule may cause popping sound and snapping.
Investigations

As time follows the density may disappear or may get well defined.
Management
Management of the condition is conservative. NSAIDS and local steroids are often prescribed. NSAIDS act as analgesic and anti inflammatory. Intra lessional steroid with lignocaine injection gives good relief. These injections has duel effect of pain relief and reduction of inflammation. Electro physiotherapy is often used for pain relief. Course of ultra sound is given to improve to microcirculation.
Surgery is done in resistant stages. Well defined nodule is surgically excised.
